Throughout out The
shallows by Nicholas Carr I started to realize how much technology had
really affected us. I started to think about my childhood and A LOT has
changed. What I also noticed was with all of this technology my brain was also
changing. I noticed that if I would read a really long chapter or any paragraph
that is pretty lengthy I will remember, but the first 5 minutes, after that
pooofff! It all gets erased somehow from my brain. I saw the changes when I really
started to use technology as it was coming out and with that I will be forced
to re-read what I just read, when in reality once should be enough. I couldn’t go
more than 5 sentences without checking my phone for messages or going on
facebook, it was hard to concentrate and still is. Does anyone else have this
problem? Do you think technology really has the power to change us like that? Shouldn’t
we be the master of technology not technology of us?
