For me it becomes very difficult to get on the computer and not log onto Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter when I should be using the computer for more important things like this homework assignment. This really shows how much media and technology affects our lives. I'm pretty sure that I could go days without technology and all these social networks but I will always be thinking about what's happening on the social networks that I am tied to.
I always find myself checking Facebook and Twitter every five minutes, I don't know exactly what I'm looking for on them but it's just became a daily habit that I have adapted. More and more people are looking at what's new on the internet and not spending enough time outdoors. Honestly I think if I wasn't in the sport that I am in now that I would be glued to the computer all day just because it's something to do. This just shows how successful all the companies are at reeling us into what's going on and what's new. Not everyone has the issue but most of us do.
Have most of us been brainwashed to the point where we turn to technology, gadgets and media when we aren't busy? Just think about how rapidly things have changed in the past ten years, what will the next ten years have in store for us? Is it possible to break this bad habit of mine? Hopefully this can be resolved.
I am a social network addict as well and I most definitely am not proud. The computer sits on the desk in my room calling out to me, "You have a new notification. You got a message. Ping." Technology has progressed so much, dragging us along to where it will head next. I feel like I have my own obligation to check my facebook and tumblr every half hour. Technology is so advanced that I don't even have to log onto twitter anymore because it already sends tweets to my phone.
ReplyDeleteIt's strange that these devices practically control our lives and no one really acknowledges that. Internet and technology is not just a popular innovation, it is a complete different life style. It really does feel like we have been brainwashed and we are programmed to log on to the computer more often than we ever should.
I can barely imagine what will happen in the next ten years. In just a couple years, Apple developed into the most amazing brand in the world. What are they going to create after the iPad 14?
