Are Video Games More Important?

I couldn’t stop myself from reading Sam Anderson’s article over and over again due to how it is so true that no matter how hard we try to keep ourselves from being controlled by video games, we still fall under its trance of bright colors and melodic tunes.  It just seems that video games would release us from the cruel and negative outside world and take us into something that would be considered a haven.  Anyone could be enraptured by a simple video game and become distracted of what is going on in their surroundings.  There’s also the fact that when one game is becoming dull to the gamer, a new challenge begins and the gamer continues on in their virtual journey.  Video games seem to have an endless loop in its part, and this might be what the gamer finds as exciting.  What they do not see is that when someone close to them is looking at said person, all they see is someone staring at a bright screen and not even bothering to turn it off and talk to their loved one.
I know this because this happened to me once before, I was still in elementary school and I used to play video games like there was no tomorrow.  Instead of finishing up my homework or visiting family members, I would either play with my XBOX or Game Boy.  Whenever I’m at school, I was more focused on going home than listening to my teacher.  It wasn’t until third grade I had to stop because everyone was getting frustrated with me.  I am actually grateful for what they did for me, but it doesn’t mean I never get tempted on wanting to play the new virtual games that would have just came out.  Perhaps no one can stop themselves from wanting to get a new game that just came out this week or how many stars and votes it has.

  1. I one hundred percent agree with you on this. In elementary school I was always anxious to get home just so I could go on the computer and play The Sims. It was a never ending game and I would find myself on the computer for hours a day not paying attention to what was going on around me. It became very hard for me to stop playing the video game and actually go out and do something or hang with my friends. I finally realized that there are more important things other than video games but I will always have the urge to play new video games that have recently been released. Like I said before it's very difficult to do something other than what you're always used to.
