Computers Over Memory

In chapter 9, Nicholas Carr mentioned an interesting comment that people are starting to become less dependent on our own memory.  Instead of reading, which helps people remember and think, people are surfing the web, or texting, which is depriving our brains of memory cells. It doesn’t challenge our brains like books do. And because of the web we aren’t really taking in what we are learning, instead we are skimming what we are reading. We basically don’t think on our own anymore; we surf the web, not finding them on our own. So now, people are saying that “memorization is a waste of time.” So what is going to happen when we start relying on computers instead of our own memory? Will our memory start to decay and if so what will happen? People won’t take technology completely out of their lives, but shouldn’t we start to limit the usage of technology?
