The book that I decided to pick was "Nickel and Dimed" even though i havent read muuch of it yet, i can already tell that its going to be a good one. This book is about how millions of americans work full-time, year round, for poverty-level wages. The book takes the story of Barbara Ehrenreich who decided to become one of those millions of americans trying to get buy, but who is suppose to get by on seven dollars an hour? To find out she started working in florida as a waitress, but she didnt like it, she even had thoughts "what if someone I know comes in and sees me in here"she then ends up mobing to maine to minnesota, she works as a waitress again, hotel maid, house cleaner, nursing home aide, and wal-mart salesperson. there is when she discovers that the "lowliest" occupation reqiures exhausting mental and physical efforts. One job isnt enough, as I just said she had to work five jobs just to get by.
This book gave me that impression that towards the middle it was going to get really juicy and great. I know this book can relate to many americans, there are billions of people who work hard everyday day of their lives and just earn seven dollars an hour. What I really found interesting was that she used her own life experience in this book, she tells us everything that she had to go through, basically what every american used and still goes through today. I trully cant wait to finish this book, I actually feel like reading it as im writing this.
