Anyway, today she mentioned the 20 Most Common Writing Errors committed by college freshman...here is the same list in Andrea Lunsford's new book, The Everyday Writer. Andrea Lunsford heads up the Rhetoric and Comp department at Stanford, and is a rock star among composition teachers; when she's in town, we get giddy and want to skip work to go hear her speak. (Jann got to go; I did not.)

[You see? In THIS case, I believe the repeated use of the word "very" in the above sentence serves an important rhetorical purpose. Believe me, I thought about it first, but finally decided its use was justified.]
